This book is the fourth of a series. As a story, it's a stand-alone. However, some portions of Louise Rick's personality and history could have used some more background. Perhaps these "missing" bits are in the previous books? Events were often jumpy and uneven. There were unnecessary scenes of unnecessary details that had nothing to do with the mystery. There were scenes that jumped ahead and could have used an additional detail or smoother segue into the next scene. Too many irrelevant details and characters. It made the story seem drawn out and irrelevant. Not my cup of tea.
