I feel that Trigiani was arrogant to write this book in the first place. Add to that, she never acknowledges the fact that there are many who believed Young's daughter was actually the product of date rape. At best, I can say this book is slow and rambling. It's an unethical interpretation of the "relationship" between Gable and Young. Romanticizing date rape is harmful to the young women of Trigiani's demographic. I'm disappointed in an author whose previous work I found interesting if not enjoyable. I would have much rather read a feminist interpretation of the real events. A strong and independent woman struggling with a secret in a society where there was no term for the violation she experienced. Do better, Trigiani.
