One of the best films of the 50s, directed by one of the best film directors, ever, Nicholas Ray. Unfortunately, James Dean, Natalie Wood, Nick Adams, and Sal Mineo died prematurely, thus inspiring a rumor that the film was cursed. The Beatles, in Liverpool, before they became the Fab 4, were influenced by this film, and by THE BLACKBOARD JUNGLE. John Lennon, leader of the Beatles, was said to have been researching the death of Sal Mineo, when he died. The second disc could be said to be superfluous, except it can be seen how Dean stood out from his contemporaries, during wardrobe tests. If ever there was someone born to be an actor, it is Jimmy. I'd like to have seen him live on to become a James Bond villain opposite Sean Connery.
