Every character in this book has a tragedy in their life. A parent who has lost a child; a child who has lost a parent; a man who loses a brother; a woman who has lost a sister; a man who is estranged from his father; a Cambodian refugee who lost his entire family - enough already! In addition to those tortured souls we have a very forced selkie plot line. Erin Hart's third Nora Gavin novel was just too much of everything. If it was her first book I suspect fewer people would have read her other books.
