Shrek is one of my favourite movies of all time! The characters are very likeable, the storyline is interesting, and the presentation and dialogue is so clever and funny. I like the “fairytale” aspect to the movie, and the creativity that was incorporated into the story. The characters make this movie really special, and entertaining, because they are all very funny and engaging. Furthermore, there are so many important messages in this movie, and DreamWorks did a great job at making it fun and interesting to hear. This movie is funny, adventurous, unique, and so enjoyable! I would highly recommend that other viewers watch this film! 5/5 @PenelopeScriptor of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board 4/5 stars. Shrek is a 2001 American computer-animated, comedy film loosely based on the 1990 fairytale picture book of the same name by William Steig. The cast is star studded, including Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and John Lithgow as the voices of the lead characters. Eddie Murphy as Donkey especially delivers in Shrek, he is given so many good lines and he performs them perfectly. The film expertly parodies other fairy tale adaptations, primarily aimed at animated Disney films. While most definitely a kids movie, there are some jokes for the adults, and the humour is not superficial. There is so much to read between the lines in this film, but not doing so still leaves one with a fun spectacle. Whether a kid or an adult, this movie will likely delight you. The movie has deep themes such as internal beauty, teaching invaluable lessons to young eyes. The writing is clever and the story is compelling. Almost 20 years later, the animation still holds up, not looking overly rubbery or ugly, and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time I watched it. This is an absolute classic animated movie that everyone should see. @Joaquin of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Shrek one is one of the greatest movies by DreamWorks Disney that exists. This movie is about a disliked ogre that becomes friends with the donkey, princess and many other fictional characters along the way. Shrek can't stop getting in many sticky situations that involves break ups of friendships, marriages and so much more! Shrek Two was a great movie and I would recommend it to every family that needs something to watch when they're bored. It is hilarious and uplifting and in the end you feel like you're filled with joy because the movie was very sweet. I think everyone should watch this movie and if you haven't already you need to immediately. It is a Disney classic and you will surely not be disappointed! I would rate this movie a 5/5. @Montgomery of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library The movie "Shrek" had one big life lesson and that is don’t judge a book by its cover. Everyone thought Shrek was a big, stupid and ugly ogre. But in reality Shrek has feelings just like everyone else. The part that really shocked me was when the sun sets and the princess also turns into an ogre. I was not expecting that plot twist at all. Also, Donkey was the first one to tell Shrek that he likes Shrek which made Shrek realize that not everyone hates an ogre. I think Donkey and Shrek make a great team together, even though sometimes Shrek gets annoyed by Donkey's constant talking. Overall, this movie was amazing, funny, and contains good life lessons. @leomeme of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
