'Mr. Popper's Penguins' is a delightful reminder of the way children's books should be written: no agenda, no dumbing down, just a great adventurous, imaginative story that does not avoid the sometimes harsh realities of the times in which it takes place. Question, I wonder how many of today's children know what an 'icebox' or 'clothesline' is or the definition of 'oxblood'? 'Mr. Popper's Penguins' is charming book the likes of which current author writing should aspire. 5 stars
