Maggie Sullivan has hit a wall in her high-stress career in neurosurgery. After an emergency high-risk procedure, Maggie is in the middle of a wrongful death lawsuit. She returns to Sullivan's Crossing to slow down before she burns out completely. Her eccentric father, Sully, welcomes her with open arms, but circumstances demand Maggie must take on more responsibility than she'd planned. When quiet hiker Cal Jones lends a hand, Maggie is suspicious of his eagerness to help. Can they learn to find peace and healing-- and perhaps love-- with each other?-- Source other than Library of Congress.

Read this to explore a genre (romance) that I don't often read. Things I liked: the rural Colorado setting, the reversal of typical gender roles (a strong, heroic, action-orientated woman and a more introspective, emotionally motivated man), evolving romantic attraction, and a happy ending. Things I did not like: the glorification of traditional social mores such as success defined as type A professional ambition (ie being a doctor &/or lawyer), treatment (and judgment) of schizophrenic character (and that character's spouse), many side stories that either didn't really add to the plot or were dealt with in a brief and shallow manner (kidnapping/sexual assault of a young teen, prostitution). Overall it was a light, non-challenging, and slightly disappointing read.

A pleasant, quick read. Great characters, not overly plot driven, but a satisfactory read. Sully is the best character, even though he is in a supporting role. It would be great to see more of his story in a future book.

A romance story based in the Colorado mountains near Leadville. Maggie and Cal meet at the charming general store at the crossroads of the Colorado and the Continental Divide Trails. Cal and Maggie are both struggling with a major loss in their lives.

"What We Find" The first novel in the Sullivan’s Crossing series by Robyn Carr The second book is" Any Day Now".
"What we Find" takes us to a rural area in the rolling countryside at a campsite between Denver and Colorado Springs . They cater to the many people walking the Continental Divide, providing camp grounds and cabins. An address to mail boxes of supplies. Owned by a man called Sully. This is a romance both light and serious at times. I did enjoy it.

I enjoyed this book. It wasn't a "page turner" or "can't wait to get back to it" type of book, but it was pleasurable reading. I was interested to see it's the beginning of a series. I'll be sure to watch for them!

What an inspiring book. The characters come alive and bring you to where they are. Couldn't put down.

"That one nurse, the one at night with the black, black hair and silver roots, she was mean as a snake. If I die and go to hell, I'll meet her there."
