Great historical drama for all ages. This picture book is a tickler and now I want to dig deeper into the life of African American James Lafayette. As a slave during the Revolutionary War, he volunteered to serve as a spy under General Lafayette and infiltrated British general Cornwallis' camp. He put himself in grave danger as a double-agent in exchange for his freedom at the end of the war. Instead he was returned to slavery. Read his full story - it's worth it.
