I loved it! It's way better than the BBC version. It's basically the same with more and no bad British accents to deal with plus Aiden is much hotter than Michael! I love werewolf and vampire stuff too!

Is this the American version or the British version?

It's not bad, but it pales in comparison with the british version. They tried to add subplots and arcs to extend the season (BBC version is only 6 episodes) but in my opinion it felt "like so much butter scraped over too much bread". Trying too hard would be my interpretation. Try the british version instead. Watch this if you like but it's not as good, special effects notwithstanding.
