In a tented field hospital on the coast of France, doctors, nurses, and volunteers work together to heal the bodies and souls of men wounded in the trenches of WWI. The hospital is a frontier: between the battlefield and home front but also between the old rules, hierarchies, class distinctions, and a new way of thinking.

Add a CommentAvoid. A lousy drama with a sad ending.
The description says this is about "doctors, nurses, and volunteers work together to heal the bodies and souls of men wounded in the trenches." However it is actually about power trips, backstabbing, gossip, trying to get ahead by destroying others, and prejudices of all kinds. Depressing, but probably more real than Call the Midwife which I preferred. Very little helping patients or working as a team.
Some inaccuracies, for those of us more familiar with the rigours of nursing even in the mid 20th century. But overall a great story
Very, very good! Love it! Two actors from Downton Abbey too.... ;)
This is an excellent mini-serie based in time of war, battlefield and the dedication of a team of nurses and doctors and officers in Hospital surrounding France. a cocktail of deep emotions, trials, troubles , hardship, and friendship in time of war. Wishing a season 2,in the near future.
We enjoyed it and are disappointed that there is only one season. Seemed quite promising as a binge-worthy series.
This was fantastic, I really enjoyed it. Well seeing that there will not be a season 2, I am very glad that my favorite 2 found each other in the end ;) That made for a happy ending of a very good short series.
Too bad there won't be a second season. Still, this was definitely an excellent BBC production.
Very well done. I wish there were more!
Yep, we liked it as well. Sorry to hear there aren't any more.
