A brilliant adaptation of the novel. The film makers put great care into crafting this timeless French classic. The DVD does have the original language (French) option with English subtitles. Only way to go in my opinion.

This film is based on a children's story, hence activate your inner child unless you are one. The story is touching, the doggie is very, very smart, and his boy buddy is cute. And, of course, the two of them together rescue everyone from the Nazis. It's a touching WWII story in which the stars are the dog and the fabulous scenery of the French Alps. I watched it on a streaming service in HD. In DVD resolution, it looses a lot, but, alas, our Library won't go for BluRay. I watched a version dubbed into English which I consider a bummer. I don't know if the DVD has the original French audio.
