Esther Williams films represent the "highest order" of creativity in filmed swim choreography. The artistry, beauty and strength of her swimming is the basis for synchronized swimming as an Olympic sport. The stories may be simple romances but you can feast your eyes on everything else.

Perhaps my opinion is a bit harsh, but I don't think I'd be grossly exaggerating if I were to tell you that if you've seen one Esther Williams movie, then you've seen them all.

After viewing this collection of 6 Williams' vehicles (from 1945-1953), with their corny, cliched and unbelievably predictable story-lines, I'd say that my statement certainly holds some truth.

In fact, with that said, I'd actually go so far as to say that these 6 completely contrived and shallow films register as a total insult to the intelligence of any rational, thinking person.

I swear that no matter which one of these films you choose to watch, within the first 5 minutes, you'll know exactly where the story is going. With their totally wafer-thin plot-lines, these 6 expensive, Technicolour, MGM productions were all just variations on the same, old, stale theme.

As you'll soon find out, Esther Williams may have been a bathing beauty and a cheesecake delight, but, as an accomplished actress her abilities were only second-rate, at best.

Anyways - These 6 fairly forgettable movies (whose stories don't contain even an ounce of substance) are basically just pure, escapist fluff of the highest order. And if you, yourself, have the patience to sit through them and accept them on the criteria mentioned above, then, yes, perhaps they, in turn, will entertain you more than they did me.
