This is a Franny K. Stein, mad scientist book and this is the first in the series. Franny longs to fit in with her classmates, but she doesn't quite get it right...funny book for younger readers.

Lots of funny drawings helps to keep first readers interested.

"I am lonely, sometimes," Franny admitted. "But I don't understand the othwr kids, and I don't know how to make friends with them."
"I think you can figure it out," said Miss Shelly. "You're smart."
Franny folded her arms. "I don't know, Miss Shelly..."
"Think of it as an experiment," Miss Shelley said.
