Really great book, by the way books are always better than movies.

I loved the first book and loved this one even more. The entire time I was reading I was thinking of how awesome of a movie it would be! I'm sad there is only one more in the series

The second book of a lot of trilogies are often fillers for gaps, but this book packed in a perfect amount of... everything. I really enjoyed flipping through each page faster than the previous and living the story with Jacob and Emma. Children, now confused and chased by "monsters," must uncover the path of those before them in order to save their beloved mentor/ymbryne. On a journey of ups and downs, hope and fear, love and betrayal, no one could have predicted how everything would eventually turn out the way it did. Is it all a trap? Even so, must they still run into it headfirst?

I love how the author makes it so it's like it's in real life but we don't know anything about it.

this book was awesome (as was the real of the series). I love how the pictures go with the story and how the story actually seems realistic. I recommend this book to everyone who likes to read!

Although I missed the storyline of Jacob's grandfather that sold my on the first book, this sequel was never-the-less compelling and thrilling. Although there were more dull scenes than the previous novel, the moments when I felt it was dragging were the moments directly preceding the most exciting twists. Mrs. Peregrine's wards are even more dynamic when left to their own devices, and the reader is introduced to a variety of surprising new characters. Overall, a fascinating expansion of the world of the Peculiar, once again enhanced by Riggs' charming inclusion of fascinating photographs.

Not as strong or unique as the first book. Instead of enhancing the story by providing vintage photographs, the story was instead created around the photos themselves, which felt more like reaching than not. The plot was repetitious and had many dead ends. The book was crowded with many superfluous characters. The author would introduce a character that existed solely because he had a photograph about them, only to completely abandon them in the next chapter.

Luckily, the book finished rather quickly because so much of the novel was dedicated to photographs and white space.

Wonderfully spectacular and spell bounding.
A must read - the set - for all ages!

Originally I was nervous that this series would be too scary for me (I have to change the channel when previews for scary movies come on), but this wasn't too dark and kept my attention the entire time. Can't wait to read the next one!

I had to drag myself through this one. Of the 396 pages, nearly half are blank, section and chapter headings and copies of old photographs. (Do authors get paid by the page?) Thus, about 200 pages long with LOTS of white space, but it felt much longer as we had long conversations to follow that led nowhere, repeated information, and extensive descriptions of characters in one chapter that led me to expect them to be important--but they disappear. I bought Miss Peregrine for my grandson, but am not going to waste money on this. We seemed to have gone from "different is okay" to "hey, look at this freak show."
