"Ray Bradbury-peerless storyteller, poet of the impossible, and one of America's most beloved authors-is a literary giant whose remarkable career has spanned seven decades. Now twenty-six of today's most diverse and celebrated authors offer new short works in honor of the master; stories of heart, intelligence, and dark wonder from a remarkable range of creative artists."--P. This is a solid anthology of short stories written in honor of Ray Bradbury, and published very shortly before his death in 2012. It is a who's-who of horror, sf, and fantasy writers, including Joe Hill, Jacquelyn Mitchard, Dan Chaon, Neil Gaiman, Margaret Atwood, and many more.
I particularly savored the last story in the book, "Weariness," which is among the last stories written by the legendary and prolific Harlan Ellison. Each author includes an essay after their story about their connection to Ray Bradbury and his influence on their craft. Ellison's is the longest, and among the most personal and touching of these. As it should be. RIP to two masters of the written word.
