This is a great novel about our judicial system warts and all. It is what each and every person accused of a crime is placed in the maze to be lost to then be freed or imprisoned in the end. Justice may have nothing to do with the outcome.

Fast read. Nice plot twist and strong character development.

An early book by one of my favourite authors, Scott Turow. A terrific courtroom drama with many twists until the end.
Great characterisations and storytelling.
The "sequel", Innocent, followed many years later with most of the same characters. I thought it was even a better mystery than the first.
Most of his books are worth reading since they elevate the courtroom genre to a whole new level. One exception: The Laws of Our Fathers; much too long and too much backstory. The trial is only a small part of the story but the best part.

Beautifully written court room drama, full of male human emotion. Yes, it seems they do have some. Highly recommended. Then follow a little later by the sequel, "Innocent." Not too original but equally well written from the male perspective. Both well worth reading.
