From the moment I first saw "Sleepless In Seattle" I fell in love with it. Absolutely perfect movie. I love the fact that it's intertwined with another classic, "Affair to Remember" and it's fun to see how they parallel each other. However, , this is NOT a remake of that Cary Grant movie. There are aspects that are the same, but otherwise this is a completely sweet and original (to me anyway) romantic comedy. Meg Ryan is her usual sweet and adorable self as Annie, the woman who, by chance, hears Jonah pleading on the radio for a new wife for his widowed father. Sleepless will make you laugh and cry, and the scenes of Seattle are breathtaking and very well done. Nora Ephron has done a wonderful job with this romantic film, which is why it's one of my all-time favorite movies!

I really do not understand why this movie is as popular as it is - outside of the general appeal of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. It honestly baffles me - let's set aside the fact that Meg Ryan's character is some type of stalker in this movie - more importantly they barely even speak or communicate at all. It's strange and awkward and not in the funny or this is so entertaining we'll go with it way. I just don't get it, but it is one of the most beloved movies of it's time.

An enjoyable film for a quiet night. It is a popcorn movie that does not require deep thought; sometimes, that's what you want. I thought all the actors were appealing --l liked the kid. It was a shock to see Tom Hanks looking so young.

To the May 10th comment--There are at least four shots of the Twin Towers in the background (the kid on top of the Empire State Building, Tom Hanks entering Manhattan, a night shot before the dinner break-up scene, and behind the Empire State Building with hearts). You would see the towers if you were watching the wide-screen version.

if you think about - the movie is so dump, like those characters are on IQ 80 - there is no deep sense in their actions - looks like it's parody
Meg - you should really be careful and stay away from Mr Hanks
in next movie he will rob you from your bookstore

BTW interesting that I can't see Twin Towers on any of the scenes from NY
I believe one of the scene was shot INSIDE of it, but otherwise - NONE

A light, unique romance laced with lots of recognizable snippets of songs. My favorite moment was when Tom Hanks sees Meg Ryan near the end of the movie, and he has this great, subtle change of facial expression as he tries to piece things together--in the entirety of the movie, that stuck out to me as a particularly great instant of acting.

A decent film with some excellent bits tempered by an annoying kid character. Would it be wrong for me to type that the trailer's a classic (*****)? No. No, I wouldn't. Boat houses are awesome.

2018-12-24: Still love this trailer!

VERY GOOD 1993 romantic comedy with lots of great film shots of Seattle, some at Pike Place Market and Alki Beach in West Seattle.
I was a bit surprised when this film's flavor of 'movie love' gradually drew me in, but it did. The actors were excellent; don't think I've ever seen enticing Meg Ryan before. Rosie O'Donnell as Becky was fun, too.
I've been spending most of my film time watching 30's, 40's and other films from before I was born (or had been too young to be interested when they came out) - glad I watched this more contemporary film.
