Does a great job of explaining the complicated American electoral system in an easy to understand and engaging way while also promoting equality.
Fabulous book that still resonates today, a decade after it was published. Useful, as well, for introducing the Electoral College. If Grace was about 8 years old in this story, she's now of legal age to run for some offices; she has my vote!
LOVE this book- a brown girl runs for president and wins. The ending make me tear up when the little boy with the deciding vote chose her and said why. I intentionally look for books that show children whose skin color reflects that of my children and especially 'girl power' books- even though I have boys. This is a favorite
Every little girl should read this book...I especially like it because it was intended for an African American little girl...We need more books like this for them...
A great introduction to the electoral college system for 2nd - 3rd grade students. Through the story of a school election, this book does a better job of explaining this complicated system than anything else I've ever read!
