The story is totally riveting and it's twists keeps you reading to the end. But the way many of the situations were managed left a sour taste in my mouth. The parents are devout believers but don't care about their daughter and future son-in-law lack of faith in God and her slutiness/ his promiscuity, or their daughter's feelings as long as one of them marries the guy. The daughter with "self- control" doesn't seem to mind kissing someone else while being engaged to another man and the one who just got saved doesn't mind to try to seduce her again. It's like betrayal and dishonesty are being justified as "temptation", confusion or true love. I think I would have enjoyed the story more if the main characters way of showing their true love was through showing more restraint instead of hurting people with their lack of self- control.

This is a period romance, I read one called steamy, perhaps but definitely clean and God centered. I could not put this down nor could I resist reading about the other members of the O'Connor family. This is the first book of the saga. Faith is a surviving twin, a victim of polio. She has developed a deep abiding faith in God which is put to the test as she sees her younger sister snag the man she had longed for since high school. There is a marked difference between sisters Faith, quiet and God centered and Charity, who uses her extraordinary beauty to manipulate and lie whenever she wants something, including Faith's hoped for man. There are twists and turns galore and I found myself constantly emotionally up and down throughout the book. Once involved with this family, which is easy to do as the character development is deep and full, I had to know more about the rest of the family. This first of the series starts before and includes WWI. A wonderful window into the history and life of the early 1900's.

I loved the history, the family, the faith of authentic people and yes, the romance. Will there be a happily ever after? It makes you wonder. A must read for all three books of this series!

A steamy romance novel I couldn't put down. I never thought Christian novels could be so entertaining and enthralling. I was a skeptic when I started to read it, thinking it would be corny or silly, but was shocked when it turned out to be a page-turner full of passion. The main character, Faith, was likeable and I ended up rooting for her, but I really didn't know how it was going to turn out. There was some shocking activity with the main character's sister, and beaus, that kept things spicy, interesting and unpredictable. I liked that it had morals but wasn't too preachy. There were dynamic characters that grew as the story progressed.

Also, the parents of the main character provided a nice side story of romance and true love. You could see why Faith wanted to have a romantic relationship similar to what her parents had. I just can't go into too many details because I don't want to spoil it for you. Just read this book, if you're not hooked after chapter one then no time wasted, move on to another book. But I'm guessing you'll be hooked.

This is one story that will stay with me longer than the closing of the last page. I loved that I truly didn't know what the outcome of the story would be. I felt the book was realistic in it's portrayal of passion, and sibling rivalry. However, I'm not sure the lack of morals in some of the characters, particularly the men, was as that common in that day. I also felt the story was told from too many different viewpoints. Overall, I found it a very good book.
