Most of these stories seem to revolve around the emotions of dragons - their "human" qualities. I am interested in dragons as magical beings, so I did not care for these stories. For example, in one story, a young dragon is bored because she cannot communicate with anyone but the mage she lives with. In another story, the grand daughter of a captured dragon tries to save him by reminding the hunter of family versus loneliness. I had hoped for more magic!

Very impressive group of writers. I enjoyed it. Some very interesting takes on Dragons and they are one of my favorite fantasies.

I am not too impressed with this book. Some of the stories are good, but they seem like pointless stories to me that have dragons that don't act like dragons should. Not especially worthwhile but there are a few good stories.

Excellent selection of authors - many well-known in fantasy field, e.g., Jane Yolen, Peter S. Beagle (his contribution of "Oakland Dragon Blues" is exceptional), and Tanith Lee -- I agree with the previous posts that Tamora Pierce's "The Dragon's Tale" is well worth the read -- also well worth the read are "The Dragon of Direfell", "After the Third Kiss" and "The Dragaman's Bride" -- actually, there isn't a bad story in the lot, some I liked less than others but ...

Seven or eight of my favorite authors are in this book, not to mention that the subject is one of my lifelong obsessions: dragons! All of these stories were fabulous, although I particularly liked Tamora Pierce's "The Dragon's Tale".

For Tamora Pierce fans: "The Dragon's Tale", a short story featuring Kitten, Daine and Numair from The Immortals quartet, appears in Jack Dann's and Gardner Dozois's anthology THE DRAGON BOOK.
