What an incredible, well made movie. A very different portrayal of Oliver Cromwell, who newer movies always depict as a religious fanatic. It seems Cromwell was in fact a patriot, who loved England, but was too much ahead for his time; he’d have enjoy the company of the Founding Fathers, for he believed in decentralized power. Interestingly, he was preparing to migrate to America when civil unrest was just stirring in England. He did not want to take to arms against king Charles, who he viewed as a symbol of authority and as such, to be respected. It seems he was thrown into History against his own will. I highly recommend watching then doing some serious research on the period. (The gorgeous, 26 year-old Timothy Dalton almost unrecognizable as Prince Rupert!)

If you love "Braveheart", you should watch this movie. I don't know much about the English history and Sir Cromwell; therefore, this movie often keeps me in suspense.
