AUTHOR: Lucia Giuggio Carvalho was diagnosed with breast cancer sixteen years ago. A nurse with a master's in community health nursing, she is currently the Director of Case Management for the Jewish Geriatric Service. She volunteers for the American Cancer Society, a director for a local hospice, and received the Women of Distinction Award from the Girl Scouts. Carvalho co-authored The Journey: A Personal Journal for Those Living with Breast Cancer. She founded the Rays of Hope Walk Towards the Cure of Breast Cancer, which has raised more than US$6.5 million. James A. Stewart is a medical oncologist with a special interest in breast cancer. He is the former medical director of the University of Wisconsin Breast Center. Dr. Stewart has been a member of the board of directors for the Komen for the Cure Foundation, Madison, as well as the chair of the Komen for the Cure Madison Grants Committee. He is currently the Division Chief of Hematology-Oncology at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.
