Are you an adult who collects pixie or fairy figurines? Or are the following sentences understandable and interesting: "an apartment superintendent, Cleveland Heep, finds Story, a naiad-like creature from The Blue World called a narf, in the complex swimming pool. He rescues her from grass-covered wolves that can flatten themselves, called scrunts." If so, you will like Lady In the Water. If not, not. M. Night Shyamalan did his fantasy story no favours by violently killing off a critic character, and casting himself as a misunderstood messiah. The cast members give good performances, though clearly not understanding what the hell they're saying half the time.

Do not watch this movie, too dumb! Even for a child, its not enough to engage him.

Shyamalan didn't do himself any favors with this, his worst film besides Devil. I still rate it slightly above average because it was well acted, visually interesting at times and fairly original and creative. The actual story was one of his least interesting and the Shyamalan pacing didn't work for me here. I remember liking this more when I watched it years ago, but upon rewatching it I was left wondering how and why.
