Based on a beloved ten-part series in the San Francisco Chronicle, Come Back,Como is Steven Winn's tender and hilarious memoir of his uncommonly rich experience with a dog who wanted nothing whatsoever to do with him. With humor and pathos, Winn describes the exasperating but ultimately rewarding effects the pet had on his family, the ordeals he and his dog endured together, and the greatest lesson Comotaught him: that loving a dog can somehow make us more human.

Good writing! Enjoyable book!

I was highly disappointed in the book after having read a couple of excellent reviews of it. Winn read dog training books, yet convinced he knew better, he disobeys even the most common sense of dog training rules... and then seems mystified as to why his dog is wary of him and rarely obeys. He never seems to grasp that a 1 yr old dog is barely out of puppyhood and needs a lot of love and attention. He chases the dog down the street, screams at him for behaving like a dog, and gives him chocolate as a lure. (BTW, even a small amount of chocolate can kill a dog... especially a 12 lbs one like Como.) Mr. Winn, you are not cut out to be a pet parent.
