Society based on late Roman/early Mediaval Europe (4th-8th centuries). Excellent use (some original) of elemental magic.

Quite enjoyed this. We were well warned that it was not going to be up to the standards we were used to in the Dresden Files. We listened to it on holidays and sometimes sat in the truck after reaching our destination listening until the CD player timed out. We were very glad to have the second audiobook along with us as we wanted to start that one as soon as we finished this.
