A pair of American twins inherit a London flat from an aunt they never knew - their mother’s own twin sister. The sisters move to London, and things … go awry.

Trust your bookclub to make a fabulous choice, go into this book with no expectations and be taken away on a Shakespearean tall tale (wasn't Hamlet a ghost story/love story/mystery?). I loved this book!

I despised this book with every bone in my body. The characters are unlikable, the story is muddled, and I felt like I wasted some hard earned reading time in finishing it. The story was intriguing and I wanted to like it because I very much enjoyed The Time Traveler's Wife. The insufferable privileged sisters made it impossible for me to feel any sympathy for their weaknesses or any joy for their triumphs.

I really enjoyed this enchanting ghost story, written by the author of the Time Traveler's Wife. Creepy and disturbing – filled with family secrets, twists and surprises it is unnerving, unforgettable and intense. This is a perfect read for a gloomy late fall evening.

I wasn't really sure how to rate this book, as I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. I will say that I found it disturbing in many ways. I recently read a story about the love and bond of twin sisters, and this is the exact opposite! I normally like to root for my main characters, but these people were all just so messed up. It is a ghost story, which turned out to be quite strange and weird. However... I didn't put the book down and I did have to see how it ended. (terribly, of course) It's odd that she wrote such a stunning book in Time Traveler's Wife (a must-read), and then this. Very bizarre - proceed with caution!

I strongly disliked this book. The writing was obvious and boring, the characters were thin and unlikable, the plot twists were random and unmeaningful and unbelievable, and the dialogue made me dislike the characters even more. This book felt like it was written by a mediocre writer who fleshed out a bad short story in a community college creative writing class.

I do not recommend this book, unless you truly want your brain to turn off (ie...beach reading)

This is certainly a weaker novel than "Time Traveler's Wife," inspired apparently by Niffenegger's experiences as a volunteer tour guide at Highgate Cemetery. The plot is somewhat engrossing, but the ghosts really don't have enough emotional power to provide any chills.

I could not understand the twins (either set) and thought they were self-indulgent and co-dependent. There was nothing redeeming about them.

I liked the Robert and Martin characters, but the ending was so disappointing. I was left feeling empty.

This book is good, and lots of fun, too, with creepy twins, a historic London graveyard, and the most interesting and fully imagined ghost I've ever encountered in a book.

This is more of a 3.5. The book was good. I'm not sure how to review the book without giving anything away or making it sound boring and uninteresting but here it goes. The main characters are twins and they are exactly the same who receive a flat in London from an Aunt they've never met. The aunt is their mother's twin sister. It's an adventure of family secrets and twins becoming their own. I enjoyed it.
