I adored this book. It's set in a very creative fantasy world, with a lesbian subplot/minor character that I was very happy to see. It's not clear in the story who are the "good guys" or "bad guys" ... you are given complex people with complex beliefs and needs. It made me think a lot, plus the writing is very beautiful, especially at the end.

Interesting concept, and culturally very interesting (I want Haly's ability!), but generally dry and disappointing.

Interesting premise, although the ending was anti-climatic and kind of left a 'that's it?' feeling.

However, worth reading, just because it is a refreshingly unique idea. Especially, the different societies and their beliefs/customs, which were interesting to learn more about.

This story had interesting concept. I really liked Haly, and her ability to hear books. But I didn't like the sub-plot of Clauda. It was obviously essential to the story, but I didn't really care for it.
