"Yes, you can surround yourself with handmade beauty while helping the environment at the same time! Each project in this book uses one or more items that would ordinarily end up in a landfill. By finding ways to extend the usefulness of paper, plastic, cans, glass, clothing, and other recyclables, we've developed hundreds of green crafting ideas. Each is fun to make and even more fun to give as a gift! Whether you want to reinvent a lamp, create artwork from household discards, organize your photos, or get more mileage out of an old sweater, you'll find plenty of ideas and inspiration in these pages." -- T.p.

Terrific book and I've made the Globe lamp as both a torcheire and a table lamp. Great auction items. I really like repurposing "odd" items and the sweater sleeve wine bottle cover was a really great idea. I've also used old sweaters and children's tights to make a teddy bear and "sock" animals.

If everyone were to use this book to recycle and reuse items for household decorations instead of destroying wild and eco life for items,
you can make your own.

If you have the time, this might have good ideas for reducing your garbage, while you work on not accumulating so much garbage in the first place.

While the cover and title of the book would suggest that the contents of this book are new and creative, don't be fooled. The crafts have all been done before-as in during the 80's (I should know-I was there!) From making a cowboy lamp-complete with denim covered pop bottle base, a mosaic tabletop using broken bits of plates to beads from paper, the book was a huge let-down. About the only thing I did find original was the very first craft "fused recycled bag tote". Very cool. Everything else has all been done before.
