Dr. Hazen L. Miller has done a real sevice to all who love regional history and folklore, and who love rivers, by giving a colorful account of the interesting people and events in the Au Sable region in the northern part of the Lower Peninsula. He traces the region's history from the coming of the first white men, and the subsequent disappearance of the red man, through the lumbering days up to the present: and he shows the effect the AuSable River has had on these people and events, and vice versa.
