Finally, after all the other books mentioning the hermits living in the woods, we finally meet one--and what a surprise he is.

This is the first book of the series where Emma doesn't whine endlessly about Tom. Of course she does whine about him some. I guess the point is even smart women have something they are stupid about. (?)

After the shock of learning Vida's secret in "P," now "R" seems a little tame. There seems to be a change in Milo, too, or perhaps Emma's insight into him. As always, the two women are left to follow the real clues while Sheriff Milo doggedly follows the book. I'm starting to morn already that there are only 8 letters left.

A book about a very small town where stories of neighbour's new hair-dos, missing cats, and tacky dresses fill up the local news paper.

The heroine is the editor of this small town news paper and when a real crime happens she's there to solve it. Her method of detective work consist of gossip. This whole book is about small town gossip and would be probably be appreciated by lovers of gossip.
