Suddenly the coach twisted, and Wade saw the horses struggling frantically for footing. It seemed that everything then happened in agonizingly slow motion. He was slammed against the top of the coach as it turned over. Thrown toward the open door, he clawed for something to hang onto, but found nothing. Hurtling through the open door, he was tumbling beside the coach and the horses. Hitting an outcropping, he was thrown farther out into space. Lights exploded in his head, and the last sensation he had was of falling . . .
