It is not fall until The Great Pumpkin rises from the pumpkin patch...or I get a bag of rocks!
The colorful watercolor backgrounds at dusk are lovely, and some of the jokes are great, "I didn't know you were going to kill it!" But too much World War I Flying Ace makes it second to A Charlie Brown Christmas in the Peanuts Holiday Special pantheon.
A must watch every year before Halloween.
With Halloween just around the corner - What could be a better choice for cartoon viewing than "It's a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"?
As the story goes - Longtime believer, Linus is certain that this year the Great Pumpkin will come and so he decides to keep watch all night in the pumpkin patch to welcome him. Charlie Brown dresses up as a ghost, but does not scare up the usual kinds of Halloween loot when trick-or-treating. Snoopy crashes into Violet's party, as well as Linus' vigil.
Believe me - You don't have to be a kid to enjoy this animated classic from 1966, courtesy of Charlie Brown's creator, Charles M. Schulz.
One of my favorites!
With the beauty of Autumn in full swing we find the adorable "Peanuts" gang excitedly preparing themselves for the up-coming Halloween festivities.
With another Halloween rolling around, Linus has, once again, written his annual letter to The Great Pumpkin. His friends give him a lot of flack over this.
While Linus and Sally patiently remain in the local pumpkin patch waiting for the grand arrival of The Great Pumpkin, the rest of the "Peanuts" gang don their Halloween costumes and happily go out trick-or-treating for goodies.
While everyone's enjoying themselves at Violet's Halloween party, a shadowy figure rises high over the moonlit pumpkin patch, scaring poor Linus so out of his wits that he faints dead away, right there on the spot.
"It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" is yet another absolutely delightful, animated picture from our good friend, Charles M. Schulz.
"I got a rock."
