I actually read this book with my class last year. It was quite interesting... In the beginning, I was not a big fan, but the ending melted my heart. This book focuses on being able to get rid of your bad habits by being determined and understanding. The main character Cole is going through a lot of hardships and needs someone to teach him the right way of doing things. Definetely, would recommend if you want to read a book that is filled with thrill.

Cole, an angry and hostile young offender, is given the option to participate in a healing circle by serving out his sentence on a remote Alaskan Island. At first Joel is arrogant and scornful but then he survives a mauling by the mysterious white sprit bear and realizes that he must change his attitude and develop a respect for the outdoor environment to save his life. This book conveys the beauty and power of nature perfectly. (Sequel: Ghost of Spirit Bear)

This book has a great moral to it, and I will definitely recommend it if you need a great image. However, it's not as interesting as I thought it would be, but it was okay.

This book was amazing, I read it in my Grade 7 class for library and it was the the best book. Other than End Of Days by Eric Walters, but I would really recommend a read here because the story is very inspirational (in ways). This was an Epic Novel!

Probably one of the best books I have ever read, this book just has great writing, an interesting perpesctive, and a great ending. At first, it was a bit rough, but it got interesting quickly, making this book an unique read.

Not a good book at all. Yes, it did have good morals and everything, but this was so boring to read. In the middle of the book it does include the aftermath of a bear mauling, so be prepared, it is not pleasent. Had to read this for school. I do not recommend this book.

My younger daughter's class was studying this novel this winter. Big concepts for younger adolescents: circle justice, restorative justice, brain injury, responsibility.

There are several chapters in the middle of the book which deal in great detail with a bear-mauling and its after-effects. Not for the squeamish.
